Five pillars. One community.
From mobile dental clinics to university partnerships, every YKMI programme is designed with the communities it serves.
Oral Health Uganda (OHU)
A dental outreach programme built on mobile clinics and school-based screening. OHU is where YKMI’s community partnership model was first tested, and it remains the ground from which every other programme grows.
- Mobile dental clinics serving rural and peri-urban communities
- School-based oral health screening and education programmes
- A training ground for visiting clinical elective students, supervised by local dental professionals

International Clinical Elective Programmes
Structured placements for healthcare students and professionals, embedded within supervised community clinics rather than isolated training sites, and built around reciprocal learning, not observation.
Placements take place in:
- Hospitals
- Health centres
- Schools
- Mobile outreach clinics
- Rural communities

Humanitarian Healthcare
Direct clinical care delivered where access is limited, led by local healthcare professionals and supported by visiting teams.
Support outreachUniversity Partnerships

Research & Innovation
Original field data and applied research, shared openly to inform community-based healthcare training elsewhere.
Community Partnership
The thread running through every programme: communities are partners in learning, never simply sites where learning happens.

Every clinical activity is supervised to the same standard, regardless of who is performing it.
